Here are three things we would like you to say using an autonomy supportive sounding voice. When you speak, really imagine yourself in this GP surgery and your goal is to check in with the patient.
“Good morning, it’s nice to see you again. I’ve had a look at the GP’s notes, and it says you were given some recommendations to follow before this appointment. Can you tell me what they are, just so we’re on the same page?”
“That’s good to hear. Running is an excellent way to get active, but it’s important to take it easy, especially since your heart rate can go up quickly. Keep an eye on it, if your heart rate stays really high after resting, or you get chest pain, feel dizzy, or very short of breath, contact the GP straight away. It’s probably nothing, but it’s better to be cautious”.
“It is important that you keep up this new active lifestyle that you have built. You just might see improvement in your overall health”.
